Case studies

Service the following room, which is needed immediately for a late arriving guest.

Beds are unmade; coffee has been spilt on the sheets and has seeped through to the mattress. The coffee has also stained the carpet. The bathroom has been used and there is nail polish on the basin. The person from reception rings insisting that you hurry up and finish cleaning the room. Respond to your colleague.

You are an experienced room attendant and you have been assigned to train some new room attendants. Work out all the tasks you undertake in preparing a room and demonstrate these in the correct order to a new staff member.

Check to see whether you have enough room supplies and cleaning materials for the week. You have twenty rooms and know you will have a full house for most of the week. Explain the rationale for your response.
