Services of the hospitality industry
The hospitality industry is largely a
service provider rather than a product provider - a hotel does not sell a
customer an actual room of the hotel, but provides a service to allow the
customer accommodation for the evening. Types of services that the hospitality
industry can offer customers include:
- Meal service/dining experiences
- Beverage service
- Entertainment
- Accommodation
- Room service
- Porter/concierge
- Parking
- Sport and recreation facilities e.g. tennis court, spa, gymnasium

- Add-on Services
Not every establishment could, or would want to, offer all services. Each establishment therefore chooses the most appropriate product mix for the type of customer they are trying to attract. The
product mix is the assortment of products, services and facilities that an establishment chooses to offer to customers.
