Products of the Hospitality Industry
A product may be defined as anything that
can be offered to a market for attention, acquisition, consumption or use, that
may satisfy the needs or wants of customers. A product is usually tangible -
something you can see, touch, smell.
It may include physical objects such as a
toaster or microwave and is usually owned by the purchaser. A product may also
include people, places, organisations, and activities.
Examples of products that can be offered
to customers in the hospitality industry include:
- Food
- Beverages
- Signature bathrobes, towels, souvenirs.
Not every establishment could, or would
want to, offer all products. Each establishment therefore chooses the most
appropriate product mix for the type of customer they are trying to attract. The
product mix is the assortment of products, services and facilities that
an establishment chooses to offer to customers.
