a. List the various types of brochures you would keep handy at an
information desk to assist visitors to your local area.
b. List as many sources as you can think of that would
assist you to research information on your area that would be of
assistance/interest to a visitor
c. Having researched the information, do you feel
there is information missing that would be of assistance to the visitor? If
"yes", list in detail the missing information
d. Now that you have the information, consider how you would store and file it so that you and others would have easy access to the material, noting:
· The storage method used
· The system you would implement to ensure the fast and efficient access to the files in question

You have just been employed
by a Visitor Information Service. Their manual on local information needs
updating and they have asked you to do the job. What items do you think the
manual should contain and what would be the ones you consider need constant
updating?

What do you consider to be
the benefits of being able to give current and accurate local information to
visitors?
3.
Study your local area and
write down a list of attractions, including cultural characteristics and other
items of interest that would attract both the international and domestic
visitor to your local area.

Having identified the list
in 3 above, look at the "infrastructure" that exists to support the tourist
industry in your area? For example, is the public transport system adequate;
are currency exchange facilities available? Think of as many items as possible
and investigate their availability.
