Case study 5 – A uniform dilemma

Short answer question:

Nancy has a casual job working for a company operating full day harbour cruises. Her duties include issuing cruise tickets then boarding the boat, mingling with passengers, serving tea and coffee and generally assisting the cruise guide.
After her induction training Nancy started the job last week and the cruise guide was very happy with her performance. Nancy was issued with a company uniform that she thinks is too conservative.
This morning Nancy decided not to wear the uniform cap and the flat, lace-up rubber soled shoes. She wore her own flat, non-rubber soled, leather thongs, rolled up her shirt sleeves to the top of her arms and shortened the skirt.
Discuss Nancy’s behaviour.
