Hemp is essentially a weed and grows easily.

Consumers have shown an interest in Greenpeace's
hemp products because there is a concern for the
environment. Many consumers base their decisions on the
sustainability of a product.
- Explain why hemp is only being promoted for fabric and not paper.
Hemp may be useful for fabric without being harmful to
the environment. However hemp paper production is quite
polluting.
- Explain why fibre hemp farming may be appealing to cotton farmers.
Many cotton farmers are finding their land is becoming
degraded by chemical pollution, irrigation and soil
compacting. Hemp fibre farming may ease the situation.
- Make a list of environmental benefits of growing hemp.
