Analysis of prescribed text: question part A style

You will be assessed on how well you:

respond critically to the prescribed text
analyse how meaning is conveyed
demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the prescribed text and the prescribed issues.

Read scenes 1 and 2 of extract 6 and answer the questions that follow.

Scene I San Pablo, Perú

Alberto:	¿Usted es Bresciani?
Dr. Bresciani:	¿Qué tal muchachos? ¿Buen viaje?
Ernesto:	¡Sí!
Alberto:	Largo pero bueno. Sí.
Dr. Bresciani:	Un poco largo, ¿eh? ¿Alberto? ¿Ernesto?
Ernesto:	No, Ernesto.
Dr. Bresciani:	Al revés, al revés. Tanto gusto, Bresciani.
Ernesto:	Mucho gusto.
Dr. Bresciani:	¡Encantadísimo!
Alberto:	El gusto es mío, doctor.
Dr. Bresciani:	¡Encantado!
Dr. Bresciani:	El Dr Pesce me ha hablado con gran entusiasmo de ustedes, así que bienvenidos a San Pablo.
Ernesto:	¡Ah por cierto! Traigo una carta del doctor Pesce para usted. ¿Quiere que se la dé ahora?
Dr. Bresciani:	No, no, no, ya habrá tiempo para eso. Bueno ya que estamos aquí podemos aprovechar para mostrarles algo la colonia. El Amazonas corta la colonia en dos: allá en la zona sur es donde están los pacientes. Aquí en la zona norte está el personal: los médicos, las enfermeras y unas monjas que hacen las cosas con gran eficacia.

Scene II

Dr. Bresciani:

Ésta es la habitación de ustedes, las camas son un poquito duras pero es bueno para la columna. De aquí se ve el hospital. Allá está y allá está el laboratorio.
