They talk about things that they have done; friends who have left for the city to work or study or who have returned on vacation or to visit relatives.

Sample answer
John is really looking forward to Andrea’s arrival. He tells Andrea that she is welcome to stay for as long as she likes at their house and can’t wait to see her. They can go and meet his friends together and he and his family would enjoy eating South American food if Andrea is willing to help make it.
However, he seems to have a number of concerns that he writes about:
He is worried that Andrea has allergies to animals or plants.
He is also worried that Andrea will miss South American food as there is no South American restaurant around there and his mother doesn’t know how to cook food from other places.
There are other aspects that could be seen as positive or negative:
John hopes that Andrea likes animals, as there are a lot of them on the farm but they can be noisy.
He wonders if Andrea can ride a horse. (If she can’t, it could be a problem).
He lives two hours from the city and they only go to the city once a week for shopping. This may make Andrea feel isolated but he tells Andrea not to worry as he has an old car.
