Best thing about the job:
- Some projects are very interesting.
- Work across many projects.
- Work with a variety of people within the company.
- Learn many applications and tools.
- Satisfaction in knowing I am contributing to people's learning.
- Flexibility to work as a contractor or as permanent member of staff.
- Can move across industries and countries.
Worst thing about the job:
- Most companies take a conservative approach in terms of remuneration packages.
- There is an attitude of 'how hard can it be to develop documentation' - no appreciation for the skills set required.
- Often not being involved at the beginning of a project resulting in minimal time being allocated to the tasks.
- Many users do not read the documentation.
Strangest thing you've had to do:
Nothing that comes to mind.
When you were at school, did you plan to do this type of work?
No, I dreamt of being an archaeologist, an optometrist then had ideas of doing business degree.
For many years, I have enjoyed this career once I discovered it.
