Online teaching and learning basically involves information and communication technologies (ICT) which you use to deliver and receive education via the Internet or World Wide Web. The online environment provides you with a range of tools that you can use to enhance or support new instructional strategies. You can either use the available technologies and resources on the Web and integrate them into your curriculum or create your own online resources. The main features of online teaching and learning are access to a vast array of people and information in a rich multisensory environment and the possibility of creating a community of learners through communication tools such as forums (or bulletin boards), chat, and webconferencing. The Internet and the Web lets you take your students to places they would not normally be able to visit and gives them access to information that was previously unavailable to the majority of learners.
