ACCE
Australian Council for Computers in Education.
The ACCE is the national professional body for those involved in the use of learning technology in education. Each Australian state and territory has an independent association that advances the professional development of its members in the use of learning technologies in education. The Council consists of representatives from the state and territory Computer Education Groups
and the Australian Computer Society.
It publishes the journal Australian Educational Computing
and authorises the Australian Computing in Education Conferences.
It is affiliated to the International Society for Technology Education
and the Technology Education Federation of Australia.
ACER
Australian Council for Educational Research.
ACER is an independent not-for profit organisation focussing on research and development in learning. ACER places emphasis on the use of systematic investigation, evaluation and critical reflection in the search for ways to improve learning.
The organisation offers a high level of expertise and objectivity to its work.
ACET
Australian Council for Education through Technology.
The Australian Council for Education through Technology is a council of Australian affiliated technology organisations. It exists to promote and improve the quality of technology education provided in Australia. ACET is the National Professional Association for technology educators representing members from all sectors of education including pre-school, primary schools, secondary schools, senior colleges, and the tertiary education sector through universities and TAFE. It also encourages membership from industry. It represents all educators with an interest in technology education. Membership is drawn from the existing disciplines of industrial arts, manual arts, computing, design, home economics, textiles, media, technical studies and agriculture.
ACET is an affiliate of the International Technology Educators' Association and a member of the Technology Education Federation of Australia.
ACSA
Australian Curriculum Studies Association.
The Australian Curriculum Studies Association Inc. is a broadly based professional association representing the interests of participants in curriculum work from all levels of institutionalised education. The diverse membership of ACSA is the Association's strength. To build from this strength ACSA is concerned to develop forms of curriculum work amongst its membership with a view to promoting involvement in, and understanding of, curriculum in the context of contemporary society.
AITD
Australian Institute of Training and Development.
Australian Institute of Training and Development (AITD) is the leading national association for professionals involved in training, learning and human resource development in Australia. AITD was formed in 1971 to address the specific needs of training and human resource development professionals. New ideas are being researched and implemented on how to address the diverse needs of members who come from the government, corporate and small business sectors.

Australian Joint Council of Professional Teaching Associations.
Comprises the State professional Teaching Associations.
ANTA
Australian National Training Authority.
The Australian National Training Authority was established out of an agreement (known as the ANTA Agreement
) by Heads of Government in 1992 to develop a national system of vocational education and training in cooperation with State and Territory governments, the Commonwealth government and industry.

The Australian College of Education (ACE) is an association of professional educators. Founded in 1959 the College aims to foster educational thought and practice through a range of mechanisms including resources, conferences and online learning. The College is a national organisation with Chapter and regional groups located in each State and Territory.

Australian Vice-Chancellors' Committee
The Australian Vice-Chancellors' Committee (AV-CC) is the peak organisation representing Australian higher education nationally and internationally. The AV-CC seeks to advance higher education through voluntary, cooperative and coordinated action. The Committee is non-partisan and exists exclusively for educational purposes.
Board of Studies New South Wales ![]()
The Board of Studies NSW is an independent statutory authority of the NSW government with a membership representative of all areas of education.

The Office of the Board of Studies provides Professional and administrative support and services to the Board. The office can be contacted on telephone (02) 9367 8111.
The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) is an inter-governmental organisation created by Commonwealth Head of Government to encourage the development and sharing of open learning and distance education knowledge, resources and technologies. COL is helping developing nations improve access to quality education and training.
Curriculum Corporation works in the education sector and is owned by all Australian Ministers of Education. The company develops products and services to help schools improve student learning. It is the key national organisation providing curriculum support to schools and school systems, and producing and disseminating high quality education products and services including books, videos, magazines, multimedia, on-line services and professional development. In addition, the Corporation markets and distributes resources developed by some State and Territory schools systems.
It is also Australia's major school-sector project management organisation, and is managing and partnering projects for both national and international audiences.

The Curriculum Support Directorate
consists of a diverse team of curriculum consultants who support teachers across the Department of Education and Training. Its task is to provide the frameworks and guidelines for curriculum implementation, to prepare and disseminate curriculum materials in print and electronic form and to provide professional development advice on implementing the curriculum.
The Directorate is organised in units. Eight of these units relate directly to the key learning areas of the curriculum. In addition, there is a Primary Education and Across Curriculum Unit, a Learning Technologies Unit, an Environmental Education Unit and a Planning and Coordination Unit.

The Dusseldorp Skills Forum (DSF) is an independent, non profit association with a charter to stimulate innovative educational developments, to focus upon the importance of the workforce in the continuing development of Australia, and to reach out to the wider community to promote the formation of skills and personal effectiveness, particularly in young people.
$$LineUpImage$$EdNA Online is the vehicle and mechanism through which EdNA (The Educational Network of Australia) operates. It houses and links to thousands of resources in Australia and overseas, with particular emphasis on IT in education and training in Australia. The site lists educational and professional organisations. All Ministers of Education and Training in Australia own the company.
Education.au fosters collaboration in the use of the Internet in education and training in Australia. Owned by all Ministers of Education and Training in Australia, the company undertakes, on behalf of the Australian education and training community, tasks that arise from this brief. As well as managing visible products of the collaboration, like EdNA Online, education.au works for standards and agreements that enable online collaboration in education, such as the EdNA Metadata Standard. The company is developing and implementing the National Careers Information System (NCIS), and working in collaboration with the Curriculum Corporation to develop the Schools Online Curriculum Content Initiative. Education.au limited is also engaged in the development of the government education portal, www.education.gov.au ![]()
The NSW QTP strategy was developed on behalf of the NSW Quality Teacher Program cross-sectoral management committee representing NSW Department of Education & Training, NSW Catholic Education Commission, NSW Association of Independent Schools, NSW Teacher Education Council & NSW Professional Teaching Council.
The Quality Teacher Program provides Commonwealth funding to all states and territories to strengthen the skills and understanding of the teaching profession. The NSW QTP strategy is a three year program of professional development initiatives that addresses six priority areas:

Education Virtual Library
Contains a wide selection of virtual education resources via a project partially funded from the National Priority (Reserve) Fund allocation for improved Library infrastructure administered by the AVCC Standing Committee on Information Resources.
National Library of Australia
The National Library of Australia supports the development of ideas, scholarship, research and creativity, and the enjoyment of these pursuits. The Library continues to build, care for and protect a national collection of library materials in many formats, facilitate the sharing of collections in Australian libraries and foster the development of the Australian library and information network.
Netd@ys
The annual worldwide Netd@ys event provides an outlet for the vast wealth of talent online as people of all ages and backgrounds showcase their projects using new media, especially the Internet, in the areas of education and culture. Educational institutes link up to create projects and share information on a wide range of subjects.
Open and Distance Learning Association of Australia.
The Open and Distance Learning Association of Australia Inc. (ODLAA) is a professional association of members interested in the practice and administration of distance education and open learning. It is a non-profit organisation managed by an Executive Committee of members operating in a voluntary capacity.
OTEN-DE
Open Training Education Network
The Open Training and Education Network - Distance Education is a major provider of distance and flexible vocational education and training programs for TAFE NSW, industry and schools. Open learning gives you the choice of studying at your own pace and in a way that best suits your individual lifestyle. You can study in the workplace, at home, at the campus, or in a combined arrangement of classroom/campus attendance and distance delivery.
OTEN-DE's flexible approach to learning uses quality learning resources which include print, audio, video, computer-aided and on-line formats so that courses can meet the variety of individual student needs. These materials remain a useful reference long after you have completed your studies. Students enrolled in OTEN-DE have a strong study support system including extensive telephone contact, tutorial assistance, on-line support, and counsellors and disabilities consultants. OTEN-DE's Course Enquires Unit is a first point of contact for students inquiring about courses and other special programs.
Provides starting points for teacher resources and communities in Australia.This project provides teachers with the infrastructure for using the Internet to support professional development and curriculum. Through negotiation and collaboration with groups of educators, the project team will assist the development of online resources and tools for events and discussion. Participation in the design and building of this community by teachers will encourage the dynamic development of its structure while promoting debate, story telling, sharing and reflection by participants.
Study of the project will investigate a model of professional development based on creating opportunities for teachers to talk, share and gain help whilst participating in curriculum projects using telecommunications.
News for teachers and parents about issues and new products, indepth comparative analysis of multimedia titles, applications software and hardware tools.
Schoolsnet is an Australian organisation dedicated to providing Internet access and online educational resources to Australian schools. Since December 1993 Schoolsnet has been providing Internet access, hardware and software products and associated services to the Australian education market. Includes a wide variety of Internet resources for students, teachers & the wider school community.
StudentNet
StudentNet is the on-line learning community developed by Australian educators for students, parents and teachers in K-12 schools. StudentNet members can access quality reviewed web resources selected for relevance to the needs of Australian students.
TEFA
Technology Education Federation of Australia.
TEFA was formed in 1991 as a Federation of National Professional Associations of Technology Educators. It was formed to promote, support and assist in the dissemination of the National Technology Statement. TEFA is registered as an Australian company and has a board of directors made up of one representative from each of the following six technology education associations:

ONLINE-ED located within the Faculty of Education, University of Melbourne, is a moderated electronic mailing list aiming to provide a focus for online education and to act as a catalyst to promote online education. The list currently has over 2000 subscribers in 40 countries. The rationale for the monthly mailout is to provide concise information to subscribers about the world of online education with a focus on the web. Articles are limited to around 1000 words with a conversational style rather than 'formal' academic papers. ONLINE-ED is NOT a 'chat' list but an opportunity for subscribers to 'listen' to an invited authority in the field share their insights and experience.

The voced-coord list has been running since December 1996. It is for coordinators of school-workplace learning programs and others who are involved in or have an interest in entry level workplace learning programs in schools. The list community is a key component of the Voc Ed Coordinators Online Project which is a project of the Australian Student Traineeship Foundation (ASTF) in partnership with Aussie Schoolhouse. The list is open and not moderated although a list manager checks the traffic to see that students do not accidentally subscribe to the list.
