Reading a weather map – Activity 1
Answers

- The air pressure readings are on the isobars on the weather map.
- The pressure cell at Point A is a high pressure cell and is indicated
on the map by the letter “H”.
- Air is circulating anti-clockwise around the high pressure cell at Point A.
- The weather features represented by symbols at the following points on the map are:
- Point B – Trough line
- Point C – Cold front
- Point D – Warm front
- Point E – Rainfall
- The compass points are labelled in the top right hand corner of the map.
- Arrows are drawn on the map to indicate the wind direction at
each of the following points. The wind direction at each point is:
- Point F – Easterly
- Point G – South-easterly
- Point I – Southerly
- Point J – Northerly
