Fractures
What to look for
- Pain
- Tenderness around the injury
- Swelling, deformity and bruising
- Loss of movement and/or sensation
- Signs and symptoms of shock
What to do
- Control bleeding
- Cover any wound with a clean dressing
- Make the casualty comfortable. Reassure and calm the casualty:
- use padding to support the casualty
- place padding in the hollows of their body
- loosen any tight clothing or footwear
- Treat to minimise for shock
- Seek medical assistance
- Minimise movement
