First aid
Working in primary industry can be a very dangerous occupation. Although accidents can be minimised by identifying hazards and controlling risks, they still happen sometimes.
It is therefore important that everyone working in the industry has a good basic knowledge of first aid.
Aims of first aid
The aims of first aid are to
- preserve life by providing immediate and prioritised treatment to casualties
- protect the unconscious as they cannot help themselves
- prevent the casualty's condition from worsening
- promote recovery by resting and reassuring the casualty
- promote safety.
