How can nutrition affect performance?

Supplementation

Supplementation is the additional substances an athletes takes into their body as part of their diet. This may be in the form of vitamins, minerals and salt supplementation. Some athletes prefer to take a nutritional supplement to ensure they do not have a nutritional deficiency which may limit their performance. Nutritionist’s are divided in their opinions about the effectiveness of the use of supplements in an athlete’s diet. It should be noted that taking supplements is different to using nutritional ergogenic aids where supplements in excess of the recommended daily intake are taken to provide immediate improvement in performance.
