  1. As the heart rate increases there is a proportionate increase in cardiac output.

  2. The graph shows a slight decline in the rate of increase of cardiac output at 150 bpm. The main reason for this is that the stroke volume tends to plateau at around 150 beats per minute. The heart rate can still increase but the stroke volume remains constant. As discussed in stroke volume, the heart reaches a point where it can not fill up quickly enough between rapid beats. Remember that cardiac output is equal to stroke volume multiplied by heart rate.
