Core 1: Health Priorities in Australia

What role do health care facilities play in achieving better health for all Australians?

The Australian health care system consists of a wide variety of facilities and services. They mainly focus on diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and care for people who are sick or injured. These are often referred to as the primary health care components of the health system. Increasingly, there is recognition of the importance of prevention and health promotion. There is ongoing political debate about funding and allocation of resources to primary and preventative health care.
