Introduction

The aim of this tutorial is to create a soundtrack for a short video clip. You will compose motives or themes and mix them with other musical material, creating an audio track which will enhance and give meaning to the video footage. This involves:

Getting started

To complete this tutorial you will need music notation software and audio editing software. Although Finale 2005 is used in this tutorial, any notation software which allows music to be exported as audio files can be used. Similarly any audio editing sotware with multitrack editing facilities can be used instead of Adobe Audition 1.5. Trial versions of the software can also be downloaded and used for 30 days.

Download the video clip.

Once you have completed the soundtrack. Follow the same steps to compose soundtracks for Crossover or Waves Dream.
