Part B (reflective, persuasive, evaluative)

Task 1

Write a letter to your Japanese friend who is coming to Australia telling him or her about some of the difficulties you had while you were in Japan. Give him or her some advice on customs in Australia which are different to Japan, and ways he or she can cope with being in a foreign country.

You are about to return to Australia after a year in Japan. Your homeroom class is giving you a farewell party.

Write the text of your farewell speech, mentioning your favourite experiences and some of the similarities and differences that you have noticed between Australia and Japan. Express your gratitude to all the people who have helped you during your stay.
