Sample answer:
The three types of sunglasses advertised are used for different sports and therefore have different qualities.

Rollerblading and cycling have flexible and robust glasses which offer UV, anti-fog and protection against the wind. They also adapt to differing light conditions.

For ball sports, the glasses don’t break if they are hit by a ball and are resistant to collision.

For water sports, there are polarized lenses which protect against reflection of light.

How does the advertisement persuade the reader to buy the product? (5 marks)

Sample answer:

It uses questions directed to the reader, such as the heading: “What are the right glasses for you?” This personalises the advertisement and makes the reader want to find out more information.
It uses facts about the dangers of the sun’s rays to back up its claims of technological superiority.
The company states its world leadership in lens technology, which makes the reader more likely to trust the company. It talks about advice from “an expert”.
It emphasizes the importance of your eyes and not to risk your health by buying an inferior brand. Furthermore, it says that the glasses are not very expensive. All of this would make the reader more likely to think about buying their glasses.
It describes different types of sporting glasses, which further promotes the idea that they are experts in their field and have experience and the right glasses for any individual.
Although the ad has technical details about the glasses, it is easy to read, perhaps due to the layout (point form).
