Writing activities
In your answers you will be assessed on how well you demonstrate:
- relevance of the treatment of ideas, information or opinions
- accuracy of vocabulary and sentence structures
- variety of vocabulary and sentence structures
- capacity to structure and sequence responses.
Activity 1 (5 marks)
It is Education Week in your exchange school in Indonesia and your school is holding a writing competition for Teacher of the Year. Entries are to be completed online. Write an email to the school principal in which you nominate your favourite teacher for the award. Write 50 – 100 words in Indonesian.
Activity 2 (5 marks)
You are trying to save for an overseas holiday you are planning to take after the HSC and you are looking for part-time work at an Indonesian company. Write a letter of introduction to an employer which would accompany your resumé. The letter should outline your intentions for seeking employment. Write 50 – 100 words in Indonesian.
Activity 3 (10 marks)
You have had a bad day at school. Write a diary entry of 150 - 200 words in Indonesian reflecting on the events of your day.
Activity 4 (10 marks)
Write an article of 150 - 200 words in Indonesian for a student magazine. The title of the article is Pendidikan tinggi seharusnya tersedia untuk semua, baik yang kaya maupun yang miskin (Higher education should be available to all, both rich and poor).
