Job description: I am involved in the construction of domestic dwellings (houses) from the ground-up to the finish. I also work on home extensions and bathroom renovations.
Qualifications: Carpenter and joiner, Building supervisor.
Best thing about the job: Working as a carpenter provides a lot of variety. I get to work in different places all the time doing different and challenging work.
Worst thing about the job: Bookwork and trying to work out my taxes.
Strangest thing you've had to do: Build a boat for a restaurant reception counter.
When you were at school, did you plan to do this type of work? When I was at school I was trying to work out what I was good at. I realised that I liked woodworking and thought it would be cool to be able to build houses for people. I wanted to be able to build my own home someday.
