More and more hotels are connecting to the Internet - World-wide Web - and have their own web page to sell accommodation and facilities.
Guests can request accommodation through the Internet. The bookings have to be monitored, entered into the hotel's reservation system and confirmed by e-mail
Exercise
You are a Reservations Sales Agent in a medium to
small establishment.
Using a conventional reservations chart or bedroom book
(your teacher will tell you which system) accept, record and
file the following reservations.
Choose a partner to be your guest. After accepting the
reservations, reverse the roles. Choose your own names,
initials and titles for the guests. Your tutor will give you
the arrival date.
A reservation, received by Fax, must be confirmed by
Fax etc. Mark your reservations clearly as one, two, three,
four and five.
Reservation One - Phone
Mr/s ________________________ make a reservation for one (1)
night. The guests have not stayed at the hotel before. They
need detailed information about the hotel, the facilities and
the tourist attractions in the area. Mr/s
_______________________ will be arriving by plane at 1900
hrs. The method of payment is by Credit Card.
Reservation Two - Phone
Mr/s _________________________ and two (2) children require
a family room for two (2) nights. They will be arriving on
flight NZ141/1200 ex Auckland. The method of payment is by

Reservation Three - In person
Mr/s _________________________ make a booking for seven (7)
nights. The are on their honeymoon and would like to spend
approximately US $200.00 per night. Estimated arrival time at

to make sure the room is held. The method of payment is by
American Express card. They would like to know what kind of
facilities the hotel has to offer especially restaurants,
