More information on Adobe Acrobat
Adobe Acrobat is a suite of applications that allows users to transport electronic documents across different computer platforms while not losing the content and form of the document. Adobe Systems Incorporated (The authors of Adobe Acrobat) invented PostScript (A special type of file format). Adobe Acrobat uses a special application of PostScript to make the transport of electronic documents more effective. This application of PostScript is called Portable Document Format or PDF for short. The PDF file format is viewable on any computer platform. Adobe Acrobat suite allows users to edit, view, format and transform documents. The Adobe Acrobat suite includes four applications:
The first three applications are commercial products and must be purchased before use. However Adobe Acrobat Reader is a freely distributed program that can be used to view PDF. Versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader can be obtained for most computer platforms. This makes the PDF files transportable between computer platforms without changes to the file or its content.
