The Agriculture and Fisheries sector of the food industry is supervised at a federal level by the Department of Industries and Mining. At a state level, the industry is looked after by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries.
Agriculture involves farming activities, including the growing of crops and raising of animals. There are three sub-categories: livestock, crops and horticulture. List some examples under the headings in the table below:

Fisheries cover all areas of fishing including commercial fishing and aquaculture. Aquaculture is carried out by containing fish in areas in the sea that are enclosed by nets. The fish are fed and monitored until mature enough to harvest. Moves are also being made to grow freshwater species such as silver perch and golden perch in dams in beef and dairy farming areas. Career opportunities in the fishing industry have generally been declining. Increased efficiency in producing foods and increased use of machinery and technology to do jobs once done by people, have been responsible for this trend.
