Examine the following relationship.
Current account balance = goods balance + net services + income + current transfers
If the total credits are greater than total debits there is a surplus on the current account. However if total debits are greater than total debits there is a deficit on the current account. Australia had a CAD of $18.5 billion in 2000–2001.
