Major Design Projects
A personal interest in jewellery making that began at school in Technology classes has inspired this project. With some limited experience in jewellery making, the student decided that she wanted to extend these skills and create a range of animal-themed jewellery that would serve as prototypes for future designs, giving her more experience in this field of design. This process of design and production may result in an opportunity to attend a design-based course at college or university. The range was limited by the high cost of raw materials such as gold and precious stones. The student resolved to substitute materials such as silver, brass and copper for these initial designs.

The following excerpts come from the student's folio and do not necessarily represent the entire section of that students work under a particular heading. They are designed to provide a brief insight into the development of the project.
documentation of research, experimentation and testing of materials, tools and techniques
use of communication and presentation techniques
record and application of evaluation procedures throughout the design project
analysis and evaluation of functional and aesthetic aspects of design
