Major Design Projects
This project was inspired by witnessing first hand the water wastage created by the domestic washing machine. The need was established as being a system whereby grey water (this is the water from washing and showering, not from toilets) could be better managed at a household level, instead of simply being drained away. The student decided to tackle this need by designing and producing a collection and management system for grey water for use in residential areas. In this way, water could effectively be recycled and used again for the garden.

The following excerpts come from the student's folio and do not necessarily represent the entire section of that students work under a particular heading. They are designed to provide a brief insight into the development of the project.
identification and exploration of the need
consideration of design factors relevant to the MDP
documentation of research, experimentation and testing
record and application of evaluation procedures throughout the design project
