The making of Kelman to the Rescue

In the Design and Technology HSC course you will learn to emulate the practices and processes used by designers to assist in the development of the major design project (MDP). This tutorial gives you the opportunity to explore the work of a digital artist in the development of a digital game: Kelman to the Rescue.

Activity

  1. Where did the design inspiration for Kelman come from? 

  2. What aspects of the development of the game were outsourced?

  3. The band Spiderbait were contracted to write and perform the music for the game. How did this happen?

  4. Dylan Lewis did the voice-overs. What steps were involved?

  5. Consider how you could relate the design process outlined in this tutorial to your own major design project. Start by drawing a diagram to illustrate the steps taken by the artist to create the digital game. This diagram might by linear like a flow chart or cyclic. Now compare it to the process you have been using.

    Think about your action plan for your MDP. Have you allowed sufficient time for each step?
