Dance Technique incorporating safe dance practice

Performing sequences relative to anatomical structure

Individual differences

Skeletal structure

To understand the relationship between dance technique (the skills required to move) and safe dance practice (an awareness of the body's capabilities and limitations) it is important to have knowledge and understanding of anatomical terminology, skeletal function and anatomical structures.

Anatomical terms
The study of applied anatomy focuses on the different locations, the actions and the bone and joint structures associated with the moving body.

The skeletal system
The study of safe dance practices needs to incorporate an understanding of the function and structure of the skeletal system to ensure that students have adequate knowledge of how and why the body moves.
