Key Personnel Answers

Key personnel in the building industry Their roles
Architect Someone who is qualified to design buildings and supervise their construction
Builder A person (or company) who constructs a building according to plans.
Client A person (or company) who pays for a building to be constructed.
Construction Manager A person employed by the builder to negotiate and ensure the smooth completion of the project to the appropriate standard.
Engineer Someone qualified to design and supervise the construction and installation of electrical, mechanical or structural parts of a project.
Foreman The person responsible to the project manager for all workplace operations, materials and labour.  Works to ensure smooth operation of all aspects of the project.
Developer A person or company purchasing land for development and sale.
Project Manager A person who co-ordinates the architect and the project management to ensure that budgets, specifications, schedules and procedures are all maintained.
Sub-Contractor A person or company carrying out work on the project for the builder.  They are responsible to and paid by the builder.
