Sample task 1
- He visited The Great Wall, Tian'anmen Square,
Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace.
- Dazhong thinks The Great Wall is the best historical
site.
- Dazhong thought that China was fun. They did not want
to return home. Also, China's long history made a deep
impression on them.
- Dazhong visited the entombed warriors in Xi'an. It
was the tomb of Qin Shi Huang Di who unified China and
became the first emperor of China.
Sample task 2
- This is the Weaving Maid and the Oxherd Festival. At
night, children worship the heaven hoping that they can get
some skills from both the weaving maid and the oxherd. They
set up incense and plates of food in the backyard.
- The weaving maid star is on the east of the Milky Way
(like a river) and the oxherd star is on the west. There is
a legend which is linked to this.
- The weaving maid saw a hard-working oxherd on earth and
came down to earth and married him. The heavenly soldiers
came and took the weaving maid back to heaven when they
found out. As a result, the weaving maid and oxherd were
separated by the Milky Way. The magpies took pity on them
and formed a bridge across the Milky Way once a year on the
7th day of the 7th month so that they could meet.
Sample task 3
- Chinese people from different parts of the world will
celebrate the traditional Chinese festivals on the
respective days.
- The Chinese love food and are superstitious.

When the Chinese celebrate the traditional Chinese
festivals,
- food is the most important item of the
celebration
- they will have a great variety of food
- many of the food items symbolise good fortune or
bring about the well-being of the family (give 1 or 2
examples).

- give them a sense of national identity
- affect the mentalities of the Chinese people
- shape their national characters.
