The weaving maid star is on the east of the Milky Way (like a river) and the oxherd star is on the west. There is a legend which is linked to this.
The weaving maid saw a hard-working oxherd on earth and came down to earth and married him. The heavenly soldiers came and took the weaving maid back to heaven when they found out. As a result, the weaving maid and oxherd were separated by the Milky Way. The magpies took pity on them and formed a bridge across the Milky Way once a year on the 7th day of the 7th month so that they could meet.
