Tourism and hospitality: speaking tasks sample answers

 

Task 1

These questions form the basis of a conversation about tourism and hospitality.

You will be marked according to the following criteria:

• ability to communicate effectively using correct grammatical structures and vocabulary

• ability to communicate confidently, and fluently using correct intonation and pronunciation

• ability to use appropriate expressions

• ability to communicate consistently with relevant information, opinion or comment.

 

1. Talk about the activity or activities that a tourist could do in Chinatown.

2. Explain what you would say to tourists visiting your town or city (explain why it is nice, what they can do, what they can see there etc.)

3. Give your opinion(s) of China as a tourist destination (does it interest you and why, what sort of things do you think are good to do there etc.)

4. Explain the different customs tourists will confront in China and Australia (e.g. what is appropriate to say in various situations, what customs are linked to various activities such as eating out etc.)
