Parenting and caring

Managing parenting and caring responsibilities

In preparing for a parenting or caring role, communication between the individuals is paramount to the success of managing the changes that will occur. To manage the range of parenting and caring situations effectively, it is helpful to have an understanding of how to manage resources and to understand the factors that influence resource management in parenting and caring situations. Such situations frequently require parents and carers to give a great deal more of their personal resources in their relationship with their partner, with their children, or with the person for whom they care.

In organising the use of resources, each individual should clearly identify his or her needs to the partner or the person for whom they care. Then it is possible to discuss issues and determine equitable use of resources to ensure everyone’s needs are met.

The following areas explore these issues.
