It is important to understand the diverse nature of parent and carer relationships and examine the variety of circumstances that may lead to becoming a parent or carer. Understanding these relationships will lay the foundation for appreciating the diversity of parenting and caring situations that exist within society today.
Consideration needs to be given to the varied situations parents and carers are confronted with when examining issues faced by mothers, fathers, siblings, extended family members and the various carers within any given situation. It is absolutely necessary that members within a family and carers and the person/s they care for manage their resources effectively as well as promote positive relationships to maintain a happy and meaningful existence.
