Ethical investment association
(now named Responsible Investment Association Australasia
)
Explaining and promoting the ethics of investment is the well realised brief of this site. Money is shown to
be a powerful force for good through Sustainable responsible investment, which requires adoption of a charter
with defined positions on environmental, social, and governance performance. Business students can use this
site to identify companies doing the right thing in regard to ethical, social, and environmental issues. The
research material on Sustainable companies is particularly valid, including the
Renewable energy option for company case studies. In General research, there
are details on Climate change, Genetic engineering, and Sustainable finance. In the latter,
the report on Socially responsible investment in Australia-2003, regarded as the benchmark
for ethical investment, is presented in full and is an essential read for serious students. N. McFayden

This is basically a human rights organisation claiming to promote environmental, political and social justice
around the world. Information is relevant to varying business practices and ethics for the Global
business topic of the Business Studies: Stage 6 syllabus. This site concentrates on education
issues, providing critical facts and analysis about how the global economy works. By showing how people in
other cultures are affected by the current system of globalisation, the site has been developed to convince us
that all is not well. Campaigns and promotion of Fair trade and fair value
for the work of others and encouragement of volunteers to get involved with local action, leave no doubt as to
the motives of this organisation. This site could be used to support strategies for teaching critical analysis

Claiming to be a guide to green investment, this site promises plenty of interest and relevance for
environmentally focused students. Unfortunately, it is not much more than a sales pitch for the green chip

site. Some excellent definitions, together with an explanation of how tracking trends can lead to profitable
innovation, are good starting points. For example, site users searching for profitable innovation

Welcome to
ACTU ![]()
The political face of the ACTU is displayed at this site and is of great use for the HSC course topic
Employment relations of the Business Studies Stage 6 syllabus. The site is clearly arranged
with material of direct syllabus reference presented in the form of policy documents, lectures, articles and
news summaries, located in About us;ACTU Policies; OHS; and
Campaigns. Links include an extensive collection of illustrative references
to other sites. Time will be needed to determine the curriculum relevance of these links. This site presents
ACTU views only, but it provides indispensable resources. N. McFayden

Yellow Pages business ideas grants ![]()
The business ideas program was designed to provide encouragement, recognition and rewards to small businesses
and entrepreneurs by rewarding innovation. Users can read about winners of business ideas grants from 2001 to
2005. Winners and innovators for each year are displayed with an outline of the business idea that was
successful in winning the award. While the grants program did not operate for 2006, students will find a
wealth of ideas from earlier years with vastly different innovations. Students will certainly find examples to
help them decide on a business idea. There is an excellent Search facility that leads to useful links about
business topics. N. McFayden
