Bryan Corrigan: beef seedstock producer and marketer

Age: 52

Employer: Self-employed

Brian CorriganJob description: Managing pasture and selecting genetics for an Angus beef cattle herd so that high quality commercial bulls can be produced for sale.

Qualifications: Certificates in wool classing, rural property management and artificial insemination.

Best thing about the job: Working with cattle and being self-employed.

Worst thing about the job: Managing the environmental risk such as drought and bushfires and handling people when selling bulls.

Strangest thing you've had to do: I used a fishing line to catch a snake that was in a well.

When you were at school, did you plan to do this type of work?
I was born and grew up on Renny Lea and always wanted to continue working with cattle. In those days I never imagined the extent of the technological advances in the beef industry that we have embraced.
